Jaguar after three long years have updated its entry-level sports saloon, the XE in India with price starting from Rs 44.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The Jaguar XE rivals the newly launched 7th Generation BMW 3 Series and the recently facelifted Audi A4. So, what are the changes in the Jaguar XE are we looking at?
The XE gets a sculpted bonnet, new front and rear bumpers, larger front grille and slimmer LED headlights and tail lights. The new wheels look much sportier, but there is a sedate option to choose from as well.
Apart from all the exterior changes on the new Jaguar XE, it now gets technologically advanced with features like Park Assist and 360° Parking Aid, lane keep assist, connected navigation system, driver condition monitor system, among others.
Under the hood, it gets the same petrol and diesel Ingenium engines which are now BSVI compliant. For reference, the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 250 hp and 365 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-litre turbo diesel produces 180 hp and 430 Nm of torque, that is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Also, you can notice the rotary gear knob shifter has changed to a much more sportier automatic shifter.
In terms of price, the Jaguar XE is offered in two trims, S and SE for both the engine options, also the prices remain identical for both engine options. It also undercuts the BMW 3 Series’s M Sport variant. How does the new Jaguar XE perform against the BMW 3 Series, we’ll soon find out.
