With BS VI compliant engines ready to take on the automobiles industry next year, Lexus along with few other manufacturers are launching their BS VI vehicles. The Japanese car manufacturer, Lexus has brought an update to the RX 450hL with quite a few changes in this fourth-generation model. This self-charging luxury hybrid SUV is priced at Rs 99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). And the bookings for it will begin from October 2019.
The BS VI compliant 3.5-litre engine of the new RX 450hL is powered by the V6 Atkinson Cycle engine which features Dual VVT-i and advanced D-4S fuel injection system. Lexus has focused more on the RX’s fuel efficiency, and reducing emissions.
Speaking on the launch, P B Venugopal, President, Lexus India, said “RX 450hL is a self-charging hybrid electric vehicle that offers luxury, space, quietness, craftsmanship and elevates the senses with every moment of the journey. The improved technology, design and attractive pricing will surely make RX 450hL a desirable car for our discerning guests. We take the introduction of the new RX as our continued commitment to the Indian market and a valued addition to our existing line of offerings.” With the new RX 450hL, Lexus continues to stay committed to self-charging hybrid electric vehicles.
The Lexus RX 450hL has focused on improving its handling through its steering response and ride comfort. This has been made possible by making a lightweight, high rigidity body structure from hot-stamp, high-tensile steel and aluminium, with strategically positioned reinforcements, the extensive use of spot welds and body adhesives, and advanced production technologies including laser screw welding. Apart from that, the RX features Active Cornering Assist which for driving in all types of conditions. The shock absorbers on the RX are redesigned and are now equipped with a new Friction Control Device which helps in reducing high- frequency vibrations caused by minute road surface imperfections.
The RX450hL boasts of a theatre-style seating that allows visibility to occupants in each successive row. In addition to that, Lexus has added third-row seating to it. And with other relevant features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a touchscreen and touchpad option too. The system also allows voice control via native cloud connection, or customers’ phones to Apple Siri or Google Assistant, similarly, owners can also select either Lexus navigation or smartphone versions for navigating.
On the outside, it has 3-eye, energy-efficient L-shaped LED lamps with integrated LED DRL. The advanced LED turn signal lamps illuminate sequentially from the inner side to the outside of the headlamps. The Lexus RX 450hL will compete against the likes of other ICE SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Sport, BMW X7, among others.
