India is slowing buzzing towards the off-road culture and with that Skoda has introduced its off-road variant of the Kodiaq, which was first introduced to the Indian market in 2017. The Kodiaq Scout is available in the European market, but it is a trim higher than the Kodiaq Laurin & Klement trim. However, in India, Skoda has introduced the Kodiaq Scout one below the Laurin & Klement variant. At an introductory price of Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) Kodiaq Scout tries to blend in between the premium SUVs and off-roaders. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, which are priced cheaper than the Kodiaq Scout.
The Kodiaq Scout comes equipped with the same 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that produces 150 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque, which is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Since the Kodiaq Scout gets 4×4 drive mode, you will find a dedicated Off-Road Mode button in the centre console, apart from that, Hill Hold and Descent Control, EDS, among others. Also, in the Off-Road-Mode system, the Kodiaq Scout is capable of handling extreme terrains, but can only be operated up to 30 km/h speeds. It is designed to adjust the characteristics of the engine, electronic assistants, and stability control systems. Moreover, on the infotainment display screen, you can keep track of the activated functions, like the steering wheel angle, the compass, the altimeter, and the oil and coolant temperature.
Skoda Kodiaq Scout comes equipped with various packages, like in the Rough Road Package, the plastic covers protect the underbody of the Kodiaq Scout in order to protect the engine bay, oil sump, gearbox, rear suspension, among others. The Power Nap Package gets head support for the passenger seating in the 2nd row’s chair along with two blankets. For better ambience, the Kodiaq Scout’s ambient lightings can be selected from a set of 10 colour options. The Kodiaq Scout also comes equipped with iBuzz Fatigue Alert which detects the driver’s fatigue level and alerts the driver to take a break. Moving towards the rear portion, the rear bumper gets a silver-coloured protective cover and the old badge for the first time in India will be replaced by Skoda written in block lettering. Other features like Alcantara leather, wooden finish on the glovebox, window panels, and dual-tone Anthracite R 18-inch alloy wheels. The Kodiaq Scout also focuses on the safety front by offering nine airbags as standard along with AFS (Adaptive Front light System), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), MBA (Mechanical Brake Assist), MKB (Multi Collision Brake), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), and EDS (Electronic Differential Lock).
