Honda 2 Wheelers have unveiled their first BS6 ready scooter for the Indian market. The Honda Activa 125 BS6 is the first scooter in India to be BS6 after Hero introduced their BS6 Splendor iSmart motorcycle. It will be available in six colour schemes – Rebel Red Metallic, Black, Heavy Gray Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White and Majestic Brown Metallic. The Honda Activa 125 is the first scooter in Honda’s stable which gets a BS6 engine.
The Activa 125 rivals with the TVS NTorq 125, Suzuki Access 125, Aprilia SR 125, Hero Maestro Edge and the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. Coming to the Honda Activa 125, it gets the same engine, however, Honda has made a host of improvements like the addition of PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel-Injection), Honda Eco Technology (HET) Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) which Honda claims to optimise output by making more efficient combustion. Honda has a total of 26 new patent applications for the new BS6 engine. Additionally, Honda has introduced a new starter system in the engine which they claim delivers a silent start, an idle stop-start system.
It also gets a new digital-analogue instrument cluster with real-time and average fuel efficiency and distance to an empty tank. Furthermore, it gets an LED headlamp setup and an external fuel filler cap and a side-stand indicator which also prevents the engine from turning on in case the side-stand is put down. The front and side panels have chrome finish with 3D Activa 125 logo. It also gets a 3-step adjustable rear suspension and CBS (Combi-Brake System) with equalizer for stable baking during emergency situations.
Honda is providing a three-year warranty with the purchase of the new Activa 125 which can be further extended for three more years. The 2019 BS6 Honda Activa 125 is expected to be on sale from the second quarter of FY20.
