2019 and 2020 will witness the introduction of many international car brands into India. Starting with MG Motors and KIA Motors, another brand name joining the bandwagon is Citroen. Groupe PSA recently announced that it would be foraying into the Indian market by introducing Citroen C5 Aircross as their first product for the Indian consumer. In addition to this announcement, the company also spoke about its India plans that included the introduction of a new model every year post-2020.
In a Joint Venture with the CK Birla Group, Groupe PSA and its Indian counterpart will locally develop and manufacturing platforms, powertrains and products at their production facility in Chennai. Further, the procurement operation, sales, and service would be looked at by both companies. Besides all these details, Citroen also showcased its first product C5 Aircross that would be making its way into the country sometime next year.
Citroen C5 Aircross is a premium SUV that puts forward the rich heritage. In India, the C5 Aircross will only be offered with a single 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine option which churns out 130hp and is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Citroen C5 Aircross measures 4.50m in length, 1.84m in width, 1.67m in height, 2.73m long wheelbase, and ground clearance of 230mm. Some of the design highlights include a sporty signature grille, two-tier full-LED headlamps with daytime running lights and indicators, long, and high bonnet, floating roof, glossy black A and B pillars, 3D LED modules on each side, dual-tone tailpipes and tailgate with a spoiler.
