Jawa Motorcycles Opens First Showroom In Pune

JAWA has been resurrected in India thanks to Classic Legends, a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. by launching two motorcycles on November 15, 2018. JAWA has opened two dealership outlets in Pune out of its 100 planned openings in India by 2019. JAWA PCMC Dealership NSG Autoriders and JAWA Shakti Automobiles are the two outlets who will feature JAWA motorcycles and the dealerships are located in Chinchwad and Baner respectively.

The outlets have retro interior designs, featuring their two brand new motorcycles, the Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two. Both the motorcycles come with a 293cc liquid cooled single cylinder motor that churns out 27bhp and 28Nm of torque, a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox, and a decent tank size of 14 litres. Both the motorcycles have been equipped with the standard single-channel ABS setup along with disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear.
JAWA is also going to launch a factory custom bobber which goes by the name of Perak. It possess a 334cc liquid cooled single cylinder motor that gives out 30bhp and 31Nm of torque, and a 6-speed gearbox. The Perak will have dual channel ABS setup disc brakes in the front and rear. However, the launch date for the Perak has not been confirmed yet and is likely to be launched in 2019.

When JAWA first collaborated with Ideal Jawa which sold licensed JAWA motorcycles in
1960 under the brand name of JAWA and from 1973 under the name, Yezdi. The brand was popularized in the Indian market by riders like the legendary, Fariborz Irani winning in the rally, circuits and motocross competitions. The only question now that would remain is how well the today’s JAWA range of motorcycles compete against the herculean Royal Enfield range. Royal Enfield’s are offering more bang for the buck and has an extremely loyal fanbase across India. The JAWA and the JAWA Forty Two being priced at ₹ 1.64 lakh and ₹ 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) is a tad bit on the higher side as compared to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 which is priced at ₹ 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bookings are open for JAWA at a meagre ₹ 5,000 and delivery will begin from January 2019.
