Hyundai Verna Launched in India @ Rs. Rs7.99 lakh

Korean car maker Hyundai has launched the all-new Verna in Mumbai today at an introductory price of Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).  This is the fifth-generation Verna and has been priced between Rs7.99-12.23 lakh, while the diesel trims are tagged at Rs9.19-12.61 lakh.

“The next generation Hyundai Verna is engineered to deliver excellence in all core areas of styling, performance, technology, safety, ride and handling creating a new benchmark in the sedan segment,” said Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Y.K. Koo.

Under the hood of the new Verna are the same tried-and-tested 1.6- litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol engine.  The 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine will be good enough for 123 Ps of power and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine that punches out 128 Ps of power. The engines are mated with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission which as always are tuned for better fuel efficiency.

Verna has been a successful model for Hyundai in India and the car was due for an update since long now. It was, in fact, the segment leader at a point of time but has now been replaced by the likes of the Maruti Ciaz and the Honda City. Will the new Verna bring Hyundai back to top in the sedan segment?

Stay tuned to Exhibit Auto for a detailed review of the new Verna coming soon!
