Scarlet Johansson’s Ghost In The Shell Will Feature A Futuristic Honda NM4 Bike

A futuristic version of the Honda NM4 will star alongside Hollywood sensation Scarlett Johansson in her upcoming sci-fi thriller Ghost in the Shell. Scheduled to release worldwide on 31st March 2017, Ghost in the Shell is among the most awaited movies of the year as it is based on a legendary Japanese manga series with a large fan base around the world.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Ghost in the Shell follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.”

A modified version of the Honda NM4 will be the star vehicle in the sci-fi actioner as it will be ridden by Scarlett Johansson throughout the movie. While the designers have more or less retained the already futuristic front end of the unique motorbike-scooter crossover, they have chosen to go a bit more fancy at the rear. Overall the package looks slick and if the right amount of practicality is added to the equation, we may even want to see one of these in production. But that’s too much of wishful thinking.

Ghost in the Shell is a joint production venture with Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures, Amblin Partners, Arad Productions and Reliance Entertainment joining forces to make a faithful adaptation of the iconic manga series. Directed by Rupert Sanders who had made his directorial debut in 2012 with Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell has a strong cast led by Scarlett Johansson with Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Chin Han and Juliette Binoche forming the supporting role lineup. The movie will be releasing on 31st March 2017 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.

We already had ample reasons to watch Ghost in the Shell in theatres on opening night (If we ignore the whitewashing part of it). The futuristic setting, the production design, Rupert Sanders’ visual style, the prospect of seeing Scarlett Johansson in a sexier skin-tight suit than her Black Widow outfit and the appeal in seeing Hollywood taking a stab at making Ghost in the Shell into a big-budget spectacle movie with a heart (hopefully) had roped us in since the days the teaser trailers made their debut. With the inclusion of the futuristic Honda NM4 as the steed of choice for Scarlett Johansson’s Major, we are more excited for the movie than ever.
