Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750 Launched At Rs. 5.86 Lakh

Think of the Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750 as the drag race-inspired version of the Street 750 – a faster, meaner version of it. And with its revised styling which reminds one of the V-Rod and the Night Rod from the same stable, the Street Rod 750 is more or less the entry ticket to that league. Launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 5.86 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the middleweight dragster stands out, thanks to its aggressive looks and of course due to its skills of burn some rubber when asked.

The drag race bike design revision is obvious in its matte black engine and exhaust finish, kicked-up rear end, redesigned saddle, taller front cowl, lower handlebars and bar-end mirrors. The 749cc, 8-valve, liquid-cooled, V-Twin, Revolution X engine has been taken from the Street 750. But it gets more power and torque, because of tweaking that has been done. The new twin-port injection system also deserves a decent share of credit for the bump in oomph. The 6-speed gearbox remains unchanged and is in more or less the same state as it was while serving on board the Street 750. There is 5kg weight-gain which need not be a matter of concern since the 11% increase in power is expected to compensate for the additional weight.

The chassis and suspension set-up have gone through extensive changes including alterations in the rake angles which saw the ride height getting a bump up and the wheelbase being reduced. The centre of gravity is going to be higher for the Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750. But the handling department is going to benefit a lot since the bike is going to be more easy to click around, given the shorter wheelbase. Stopping power has been amplified with two 300mm discs up front and a single 300mm disc at the rear, ably assisted by the sheer excellence of ABS which comes as standard. The all-new beefier radials enhance the bike’s cornering abilities and the new foot peg position makes it a much easier bike to attack corners with, compared to the cruiser on which the Street Rod 750 is based.

Available in three colours – Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim and Olive Gold – the Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750 is now open for booking and dealerships is start issuing test rides to prospective customers soon as well.
