Mahindra has launched two new variants to join its existing lineup of SUVs. Expanding its range are the XUV500 Automatic variant of the W6 version and a more powerful variant of the TUV300 compact SUV.
Retailing for Rs. 14.29 lakh, the XUV500 W6 AT is the cheapest in the XUV500 range with the automatic gearbox. The six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox is mated to a 138bhp 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Competing against the Hyundai Creta diesel SX+ 1.6 AT and the Renault Duster AMT, the XUV500 W6 AT is cheaper than the Hyundai and expensive than the Renault.
Mahindra has widened its TUV300 range as well with the addition of a more powerful variant. Priced at Rs. 8.98 lakh for the manual and Rs. 9.72 lakh for the AMT, the new version will be only available in the top-spec T8 trim level. Though it retains the same looks of the regular model, the new version is powered by an mHawk100 engine. The new engine belts out 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque compared to the regular model’s 85bhp and 230Nm. Mahindra shoehorned the more powerful engine into the TUV300 after receiving feedback from customers that the mHawk80 engine in the regular version was underpowered.
