At the Geneva International Motor Show, it was a proud moment for Mahindra Group because Pininfarina unveiled the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance electric vehicle. In 2015, the Mahindra Group acquired the majority of the stake in Pininfarina.
Can you imagine an electric vehicle going faster than Formula One cars? The Pininfarina Battista is built on carbon fibre monocoque chassis and is capable of doing 0 to 100kmph in 2 seconds as claimed by them. It has almost double the horsepower than a Formula One car and there’s no doubt that it can even dust off an F1 car if they ever battle it out in a one to one showdown. It is also capable of producing 2,300Nm of peak torque along with a 120 kWh battery pack.
It is powered by four electric engines that will make the Pininfarina Battista reach speeds of 350kmph. The hyper performance electric vehicle, Battista got its name from its founder Battista “Pinin” Farina. There will be only 150 hand-built cars manufactured and will go out for sale in 2020. This hypercar will go on for a massive price tag of $2.2 million which is close to ten times the cost of Tesla’s Roadster.
