Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza vs Hyundai Creta

On the 14th February 2019, the Mahindra XUV300 was launched in India and we are going to have an on-paper comparison of the XUV300 with Hyundai Creta, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Keeping it fair, we are going to compare them on the basis of price. We will keep the price range from Rs. 9 to 13 lakh (ex-showroom) also compare the mid and top variants of both the petrol and the diesel engines in that price range.

The Mahindra XUV300’s 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 110bhp at 5,000rpm and 200Nm of torque between 2,000 to 3,000rpm. Whereas, the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 115bhp at 3,750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,500 to 2,500rpm. Although, the XUV300 only has a 6-speed manual transmission on offer and has no option of an AMT gearbox.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has only one engine option of the 1.2-litre diesel engine which produces 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm which is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no petrol variant on offer but has an option of AMT.

The Hyundai Creta’s 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 122bhp at 6,400rpm and 151Nm of torque at 4,850rpm which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine produces 126bhp at 4,000rpm and 260Nm of torque at 1,500rpm which is also mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Creta offers variety by providing AMT transmission in both the engine variants, petrol and diesel.


Mahindra XUV300’s W8 variant is one below its top variant which offers a majority of features than the standard variant and is most likely to be bought by customers. The W8 variant offers 17-inch Alloy wheels and the W8 Option variant offers Diamond cut 17-inch Alloy wheels, hill hold assist, rear defogger wash and wipe, and anti-theft alarm system. In terms of safety, it offers 7 airbags in the W8 option variant along with 3 point seatbelt for the middle seat in the 2nd row. The ISOFIX or child seat rear anchors and disc brakes on all four wheels are standard on the XUV300. There are three steering modes on offer with its Smart Steering System feature namely, Comfort, Normal, and the Sport mode. Front parking sensors on offer which is only available in the W8 option variant. A much-expected feature in the SUV segment amongst the buyer lately has been the addition of a sunroof. The XUV300 comes with an electric sunroof with an anti-pinch feature which is only available on the W8 Option variant.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza’s top variant ZDI plus matches the price of XUV300’s W8 variant. These are the special features which the Vitara Brezza’s ZDI plus variant offers rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, reverse parking sensor, remote control through app, a navigation system, electrically foldable ORVMs, side turn indicators on the ORVMs, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink; and a Dual Tone exterior body colour option. Cruise Control mode is only available in the manual transmission and a chilled glove box. Other standard features on the cars are LED taillights, ABS with EBD, also airbags on both Driver and Passenger side along with ISOFIX child seat restraint system at the rear.
