Maruti Suzuki has launched their “tall-boy” design that will take on Hyundai’s Santro that was launched last year for an introductory price of ₹3.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). The all new Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R 2019 is priced at ₹4.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new Wagon-R 2019 is offered in two engine variants, 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67bhp at 5,500rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, and 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. Both the engine variants are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, and Maruti Suzuki is also offering an option for 5-speed AMT gearbox for both the engine variants. Factory-fitted CNG kit with a 1.0-litre engine will also be on offer, but not anytime soon. For the first time, Maruti Suzuki is offering a 1.2-litre engine in the Wagon-R, which is already offered in the Swift and Ignis.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R 2019 has increased its length (3655mm) by 66mm, increased its width (1620mm) by 125mm, and the wheelbase (2435mm) is increased by 35mm. But, the height (1675mm) of the new Wagon-R is decreased by 25mm.
The big new Wagon-R will come in three variants, LXI, VXI, and ZXI. The base model, LXI will have driver’s side airbags as standard along with ABS and EBD, rear parking sensors, and 13-inch steel wheels. The top spec variant, ZXI has 60:40 split folding rear seats, touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels.
