Force Motors has mustered up their will to battle it out with the Mahindras in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment by introducing its top of the line SUV, the Force Gurkha Xtreme in Pune on December 17, 2018. Let’s find out what extreme features does the Gurkha Xtreme has to offer.
The Xtreme has an OM611 2.2-litre common rail straight-four diesel engine which has been borrowed from Mercedes-Benz, delivering 140bhp at 3800rpm and 321Nm of peak torque at 1600 to 2400rpm. The Gurkha had less noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) as compared to the Thar, and the company states that the NVH level has been improved with this variant due to its dual mass flywheel. The off-roading ability has been enhanced with the help of its sturdy and rigid front axle, equipped with front and rear locking differentials, also has 210mm of ground clearance and comes with 245/70 R16 tyre size. Did you notice its uncanny resemblance to the Mercedes G-Wagen? The cosmetic changes on the Xtreme include a facelifted front which gives it a bolder look, LED indicators mounted on the bonnet, steel bumpers at the front and back, side claddings, an air intake snorkel with chrome finish, updated graphics, clear lens headlamps along with protective grille, front fog lamps, and significantly larger ORVMs makes it a proper 4×4 SUV ready to hit the muddy gravels.
Force Gurkha is known for its history and the accolades it has won over the years, to name some, “Racing Car of the Year 2015”; “Best Competition 4×4”, twice in 2015 and 2016; “Best Motorsport Award 2015” and “Monster of the Year Award 2015”; “MUV of the Year 2017”. An SUV brand that has flourished and has emerged as a winner on many occasions will be priced for ₹ 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Will Force Motors’ Gurkha Xtreme force its way against the Mahindra Thar, with respect to sales, only time will tell.
