The 2018 Indian Auto Expo is going and here is a compilation of all the exciting cars that have been showcased!
Hyundai i20 Facelift
Korean auto giant has finally launched the updated i20 hatchback for the Indian market at the Auto Expo. Prices start from Rs. 5.34 lakhs and go all the way up to 9.15 lakhs for the top of the line spec.
“The Elite i20 has been a global success with over 4 lakh customers since its launch in 2014,” Hyundai Motor India MD Y.K. Koo said. The car will come in both diesel and petrol variants. While petrol variants will be priced between ₹ 5.34-7.90 lakh, the diesel one will be available for ₹ 6.73-9.15 lakh (ex-showroom price, Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Swift has been an ace seller for Maruti Suzuki in India every since it has been launched in India. Even the Swift based compact sedan- the Dzire churns out big numbers for the Indian carmaker and has been topping the sales chart since a long time. There was a lot of buzz around the new Swift before the Auto Expo and the carmaker has now launched the same at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is underpinned by the fifth-generation HEARTECT platform, which has been used in the new Baleno and Dzire. Under the hood are the same engine options i.e a 1.3-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine and will come mated with an option of an automatic or a manual transmission- just like its sedan counterpart. The Swift, now with the option of automatics in both diesel and petrol variants is more lethal than ever and with all the tech and styling elements throughout the car, is pretty much future proof as well.
Honda’s Civic was a hot-selling product in the D-segment back in the day and there have been rumours of the ‘Civic’ badge making a comeback in the Indian market ever since it was discontinued. Honda showcased the Civic at this year’s Auto Expo along with the new CR-V. There are no official statements from the brand as of now about the tech specs, however, most likely, the Civic will come with a 1.8 Petrol and a 1.6 L Diesel engine. Honda is targeting a starting price of around 14 lakhs for the upcoming Civic. The Civic and the CR-V play an important role in the Japanese carmaker Indian portfolio and let’s hope we see these products hitting the Indian shores soon!
