Japanese luxury carmaker- Lexus has launched its flagship product- the LS500h in India at a starting price of Rs.1.77 Cr (ex-showroom). The LS 500h is powered by a powered by a 3.5L V6 petrol engine combined with a 310.8kV Lithium-ion battery, which gives it a combined output of 355bhp. The brand also claims that since this is a hybrid, it can deliver 15.38 km/litre being a BS6 compliant vehicle.
The LS500h is loaded to the gills with tech and the brand has tried to showcase the best of Japanese craftsmanship since this a flagship product. Stuff like the iconic spindle grille incorporating 5032 individual grid facets, interior stylings inspired by origami hand pleats and Kiriko cut glass which changes its expression when lit by daytime sunlight or the vehicle’s interior lighting. It also gets class-leading 1022mm of legroom which is complemented by the comforts of Shiatsu massage technology, heating functions and ottomans in the rear for added comfort.

Italian carmaker Lamborghini has launched their new SUV- Urus in India just a month after its International launch in India at Rs. 3 Cr (ex-showroom). Urus is based on Volkswagen group’s MLB EVO platform which it shares with the Audi Q7 as well.
Under the hood of the Urus is an all-new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 which is good enough to produce 650bhp of power along with 850NM of torque. The brand claims that the Urus is the fastest SUV in the world and can reach 100km/hour in 3.6 seconds while maxing out at 305 km/hour. India is a strategic market for Lamborghini in terms of future growth volumes, said Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini’s India unit. “India is one of the first few markets in the world where the Urus is being launched. Given the advantages this car brings, our India sales volumes should rise threefold by 2019, after the model is more easily available,” he added.
Like other Lamborghinis, the Urus will be imported to India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, with no plans for production or assembly in India, said Andrea Baldi, general manager of the Asia-Pacific region for the company. To maintain exclusivity, all Lamborghini cars are manufactured at the company’s Bologna plant, he added. Terming the model “a complete game changer” for Lamborghini, Baldi said India plays an important role in Lamborghini’s global decision making, adding that an SUV was the right call since customers desired the performance of a sports car coupled with the driveability and versatility of an SUV. The Urus competes with the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S as well as the Range Rover LWB SV Autobiography as according to a few reports, all the allocated units for 2018 for the Indian market have already been sold out!
German carmaker Audi has launched it’s much awaited SUV -the Q5 in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 53.25 Lakh(ex-showroom). This is the second generation of the car in India and is powered by the similar 2.0-litre diesel engine which is good enough for 187bhp of power and 400NM of torque. It is now mated to an updated 7-speed DSG gearbox and can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 7.8 seconds. Audi claims that the SUV will return 17.01kmpl(ARAI) and you can expect double digit figures in real-world conditions as well. The Q5 locks horns with the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Volvo XC60 and the BMW X3 in the mid-size SUV segment. Range Rover Velar
British carmaker Land Rover has launched their new SUV- Velar in the Indian market today at a starting price of Rs. 78.83 lakhs whereas the top of the line ‘First Edition’ variant is priced at Rs. 1.37 Cr(ex-showroom). JLR showroom’s across the country had started accepting bookings for the new Velar started in December last year. Velar is the fourth SUV in the Range Rover family and sits in between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. We were invited to the British High Commissioner’s residence in New Delhi for the event and the carmaker had put together all of its SUV lineup on display for the same.
The Velar gets 4 engine options- 2.0-litre diesel engine with either 178 bhp/430 Nm or 237 bhp/500 Nm. A 3.0-litre pot with 296 bhp/700 Nm. The petrol motor will be a 2.0 litre Ingenium engine available in 247 bhp/365 Nm or 296 bhp/400 Nm. There is also a 3.0-litre petrol supercharged V6 with 375 bhp/450 Nm on offer. Transmission duties are taken care by an 8-speed ZF gearbox in all the variants.
