In our constant endeavour to provide you with the best content and advice about cars, here is a section dedicated to the cars that we live with on an everyday basis – in rain, in traffic, in scorching heat. All of this just to provide you with a real life review of your next set of wheels.
This month, we have been driving Hyundai’s mighty SUV- the Tucson and the Tata’s little wonder- the Tiago AMT.
Hyundai Tucson SX (O) Diesel AT First Month Report
The Tucson might come across as a really big car when you first look at it but surprisingly it feels pretty compact from behind the wheel. Also the convenience of an automatic gearbox has been a boon especially in those peak rush hour traffic scenarios. Last weekend, the Tucson experienced its first stretch of highway as we headed towards Lonavala for a shoot recce. The diesel motor is as punchy as ever which makes for great highway drive.
Distance covered – 523 kms
Fuel efficiency – 11.2 kmpl (approx)
Remarks – No height adjustment option for the co-driver seat. Onboard navigation shows close by petrol pumps whenever fuel level hits reserve. Pretty neat!
Tata Tiago XZA AMT First Report
Convenience of an automatic gearbox and size of a hatchback- what else can one ask for for a crowded everyday city commute. The Tiago AMT joins our long term fleet and it has been nothing short of impressive ever since it has come. The 1.2-litre motor packs enough punch for quick city maneuvers and compact dimensions means you don’t have to worry about tight parking space anymore. Ride quality has always been a strong point for Tata car’s and the Tiago can absorb most city potholes(small craters for some) with ease.
Distance covered – 400kms
Fuel efficiency – 11.5 kmpl (approx)
Remarks – The AMT gearbox can take a while to get used to. Tata’s Connecti Next Music system and speakers are definitely the best in the this segment.
