Frankfurt Motor Show is on and German carmaker Mercedes Benz has showcased the S Class Coupe and Cabriolet at its home turf. Mercedes Benz has incorporated the new OLED technology in the updated tail lamps. Other changes include updated bumpers, new Panamericana grille with chrome inserts. One can also see some family characteristics that have been borrowed from the new Mercedes AMG GT R.
Under the hood of the new S Class Coupe and the Cabriolet is a new smaller 4.0-litre V8 instead of the older 5.5-litre motors. Instead of the smaller capacity engines, the power output has gone upto 612bhp whereas torque stands at 900NM. Taking care of the transmission duties is a 9-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels.
Chassis tweaks are minor, but include a more rigid subframe mount and higher wheel camber for the S 63 models, plus improvements made to the Magic Body Control system. The Race start function for AMG models has also been made easier to operate. Prices and full spec data for India-bound S-Class Coupes and Cabriolets has yet to be announced, but expect only slight rises to the list price for the updates. We’ll receive more information after the car’s Frankfurt debut.
