India’s largest carmaker, Maruti has added a new ‘S’ Variant to its popular sedan Ciaz. This new ‘sportier’ variant has been priced at Rs. 9.39 lakhs(ex- showroom Delhi) for the petrol variant whereas the diesel SHVS variant has been priced at Rs. 11.55 Lakhs. Maruti is known to add such variants to its existing lineup in order to spice things up and give the ‘exclusive variant’ attention to its customers. Ciaz had earlier been subject to an ‘RS’ variant as well which was again just an aesthetic job.
Talking about the Ciaz S, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki, Mr. R S Kalsi said, “Ciaz has established itself as one of the most progressive brands of Maruti Suzuki and has sold over 1.70 lakh units of Ciaz cumulative since its launch in October 2014. Introduction of Ciaz S will further strengthen the position of Ciaz in the market by catering to the requirements of a younger yet premium customer who believes in the sporty spirit of life.”
Refreshed aesthetics include a new spoiler pack and a refreshed body kit including front and rear bumper extensions, side skirts and a boot lid spoiler. Interiors now get an all-black treatment instead of the usual dual-tone setup on regular variants. Some changes have also been made to the MID(multi information display) system. Rest of the equipment will be similar to the top of the line Alpha variant. The Ciaz locks horns against the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna in the sedan segment the latter is due for an update on the 22nd of this month. Ciaz was also moved to only NEXA dealerships earlier and even the ‘S’ variant will retail for there.
