Korean carmaker, Hyundai will be launching the new Verna in India by the end of this month. Until then, the carmaker has released a set of images which has given us a clear idea about the car’s dimensions and aesthetics. They have even opened the bookings for the same and released a teaser video.
Under the hood of the new Verna will be the same tried-and-tested 1.6- litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol engine. The 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine will be good enough for 123 Ps of power and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine that punches out 128 Ps of power. The engines will be mated with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission which as always will be tuned for better fuel efficiency. We can make out from the teaser that the car will now be equipped with a sunroof as well along with DRL’s and projector lamps.
Verna has been a successful model for Hyundai in India and the car was due for an update since long now. It was, in fact, the segment leader at a point of time but has now been replaced by the likes of the Maruti Ciaz and the Honda City. Will the facelift bring Hyundai back into the game? Well, the answer to this question will depend a lot on August 22 when the carmaker will officially release the pricing of the new Verna.
