Czech car maker Skoda is all set to take on the booming SUV segment with the launch of its all new SUV- the Kodiaq in India. The car has been spied testing multiple times in India at various locations and is expected to be launched in India by the second half of this year.
This is Skoda’s biggest SUV till date and will take on the new Volkswagen Tiguan and the Hyundai Santa Fe in India. Kodiaq and the new Superb are the two main jewels in Skoda’s crown in India and the car maker plans to strengthen its position in the premium segment with these two vehicles. One can assume that the prices of the new upcoming Skoda Kodiaq in India to start at around Rs 27 lakh. Bookings for the Kodiaq are already underway and the manufacturer has updated its website with details of its upcoming SUV.
Kodiaq has already been launched in foreign markets and the price in the European market start from £21,565 (which translates to approx Rs. 17.45 lakh). We can expect the same to hit the Indian shores by the the upcoming festive season.
The upcoming SUV will most likely be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engine. The petrol unit will be equipped with a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which can develop max power of 177 hp against the peak torque of 320 Nm. The diesel powered Kodiaq will most likely sport a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit which will be tuned in two states – 147 bhp/340 NM and 187 hp/400 NM. All of these specs are speculative as of now as we don’t have an official word from Skoda yet.
