The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been launched in India last month and it is based on the upcoming Swift hatchback. Maruti has done a commendable job by adding dual airbags and ABS as standard across the range. The Euro NCAP committee has crash tested the upcoming Swift hatchback and here is video of the same-
The standard car gets a 3 Star rating whereas the car fitted with an extra ‘Safety’ pack gets a 4 Star rating. The tested variant is the new-gen Swift which is based Suzuki’s new ‘Heartect’ architecture which is lighter and stronger than the outgoing version.
The new Swift will most likely debut at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo and will have same engine options as the Dzire i.e a 1.2-litre petrol motor and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. We can also expect automatic and manual transmission options similar to the Dzire sedan. The new Swift will have better fuel efficiency than the outgoing model and will refresh the brands game in the hatchback segment.
Maruti might also face internal competition within the Swift and the Ignis but that has also happened int he past with the Swift and the Ritz selling at the same time with identical engine and transmission options.
