Volkswagen India has launched the Tiguan in India at a starting price of Rs 27.98 Lakh. The Tiguan was first showcased in India last year at the Indian Auto Expo at Greater Noida.
Volkswagen had also announced the local assembly of the same last week, commenting on that occasion, Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We are delighted to introduce one of our most successful global products to the Indian market. The Tiguan will be our premium SUV offering for India and will cater to the unceasing demand in the segment. Our customers will now have an extended portfolio, ranging from hatchback to executive sedan, to meet their requirements at our showrooms.”
Under the hood of the new Tiguan is a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is good enough for 143 PS of power and 340NM of torque. The Tiguan will be available in two variants and – Comfortline and Highline. The Highline variant has been priced at Rs. 31.38 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The Tiguan is based on the MQB (modular transverse matrix) platform, which can also be found Skoda Octavia, Superb and the Audi A3.
Creature comforts in the new Tiguan include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration with an 8-inch touchscreen display. Safety features include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Antilock Braking System, traction control (ASR), EDTC (engine drag torque control), child seat anchors and front and rear parking sensors.
