The 2017 Hyundai Elantra has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 12.99 lakh. The new range tops off at Rs. 19.99 lakh. The sixth generation model of the Korean sedan will be available in both petrol and diesel options with each getting a total of 5 variants – S, SX, SX AT, SX(O) and SX(O) AT. The car has received extensive design and styling changes in its latest generation and will be sold in five colors – Marina Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black and Passion Red. It is also longer and wider than the previous generation model and is built with 53 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel which offers better structural rigidity.
Some of the exterior features worth mentioning, other than the all-new design of course, are projector headlamps, LED position lights, chrome radiator grille, body color ORVMs and door handles and sunroof. On the inside you get a touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front ventilated seats, armrest for both front and rear seats and USB/AUX-IN/Bluetooth connectivity. Safety features comprise of side and curtain airbags, speed sensing auto door lock, ABS and EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and rear parking sensor. You need more? There are also drive mode select, hands-free smart trunk, auto cruise control and keyless entry with smart key.
Petrol variants of the sixth generation Hyundai Elantra will be powered by an all-new 2.0-liter engine. The 1.6-liter diesel motor from the outgoing model will be powering the diesel variants of the new car. The petrol unit produces 150bhp of power and 192Nm of torque while the diesel engine offers 126bhp and 260Nm respectively. Transmission cases on offer are 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
