They may be going through a rough patch. But Volkswagen seems committed to go ahead with their product plans for the Indian market. An all-new VW Beetle will be launched shortly and dealers have started taking bookings for the same. Powered by a 1.4-litre 149bhp petrol turbo-petrol engine, the new car will replace the model which was launched back in 2011.
Though it has the same silhouette as its predecessor, the new car will be larger and lower. It has also been rendered with a more muscular styling with the squared bumpers, rakish roofline, integrated spoiler and larger wheels contributing to the new looks. Looks like VW would like to appeal to the male audiences as well with this one as most of them seem to be opting for Mini Coopers these days.
The new VW Beetle will be available in four colors. Also part of the deal is a panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlamps, leather interiors and chrome packages for interior & exterior. The Beetle will continue to be an expensive affair with the CBU import to cost somewhere around Rs. 35 lakhs and that’s ex-showroom.
